Frequent Shoppers Club Key Tags
--free ticket home for your keys!
There they were! ... I must admit I had been more than a bit skeptical.
"Drop this key in any mailbox. Return postage guaranteed." Those words, printed on the back of those funny-shaped plastic motel room key fobs, have intrigued me since I was old enough to read them. Would the post office really deliver my room key back to that little motel outside of Disneyland?
True Confession ... as a kid I market-tested the idea. I used to collect motel room keys from our family vacations, bring them home, and deposit them in our neighborhood mailbox. That's as far as the test went -- I never knew if the key for room 23 ever found its way back to the motel (though I pictured it in the hands of some other kid, bouncing on the cozy bed in my former room).
Well, I'm no longer a kid (only at heart!), but I'm still intrigued with the idea of keys returning home via the U.S. Mail. I was delighted to once again test the concept -- this time as the president of Cole Hardware®, for the benefit of our Frequent Shoppers Club members. I dropped a set of keys -- with our new Frequent Shoppers Club Key attached -- into a mailbox miles from San Francisco. About a week later, the keys were back on my desk. A new Frequent Shoppers Club service was born!
Here's the scoop: Your Frequent Shoppers Club Key Tag is a small (approx. 1" x 2-1/2") card with your personal Cole Hardware® Frequent Shoppers Club account number (no name, just the number) and a corresponding bar code on the back. Put the Key on your key ring and you'll get two big benefits:
- Your Frequent Shoppers Club account number will be at your fingertips (the more purchases you enter under your Frequent Shoppers Club number, the bigger your annual dividend). Now we can just scan your key tag to enter purchases into your Frequent Shopper account. You won't have to remember the number and we won't have to type it in.
- If you ever misplace your keys, the kind soul who finds them will read the "Drop in any mailbox, postage guaranteed" message printed on the key tag, and simply drop them into the nearest mailbox. Our address is printed below this message and postage is guaranteed (and paid!) by Cole Hardware®. When your keys show up in our mail, we'll give you a call.
