The Taming of the Tape Measure
Most tape measures have a locking mechanism on top. This model (Sku 2116564) has a lock lever on the bottom. So what? Well, for starters, you can control this thing a lot easier, and when you release the lever to retract it, the metal blade along with the hook doesn’t come screaming back at you, nor does it whip around like a rattlesnake about to strike. It simply glides back and does not bite the hand that feeds.
Okay, here’s what really happened. I managed to slice open my knuckle trying to free this particular tape measure from its plastic clamshell packaging. The measuring device is nice, but the packaging can be ruled out. Ba-da-bum.
